Helping our patients maintain a healthy mouth and smile is the main goal of general dentistry. Oral health is a key indicator of overall body health. We prefer to provide more minor, preventive care than to see patients require more intensive treatments due to a problem that was not managed over time. We want to ensure that your oral health is optimal, thus positively contributing to the health of your entire body. The team at Schneider Family Dentistry is here to brighten your smile and pave the way for a brighter life.
Cleanings And Exams
This is routine and preventive care, comparable to physicals and bloodwork performed by your primary care doctor. Our hygienists clean the plaque and tartar from your teeth, take xrays to check for cavities and monitor bone density, and monitor your gums for recession, inflammation and irritation. Your dentist then does a thorough oral exam, checking jaw alignment and function, autoimmune issues, enamel health, tooth and bite alignment, soft tissue health, and airway health. In addition, they look for decay, oral cancers, and other potential problems.request an appointment
When tartar and plaque lead to decay, tooth enamel erodes allowing germs to penetrate teeth. This leads to cavities, or holes, that need to be filled. Schneider Family Dentistry uses ceramic tooth-colored fillings to fill cavities. We can also replace old fillings as needed, especially old non-bonded fillings that have created cracks in the enamel. This often prevents the needs for crowns and other more expensive treatments. We are proud to use the industry’s best composite filling materials and “bonding agents” which allow us to replace the damaged or chipped part of the tooth quickly and painlessly with a near-perfect match.request an appointment
Special coatings can be applied to teeth to ‘seal’ and protect them so they are less likely to get cavities. Sealants are often used on children, since they are still learning to brush properly. Some adults also get sealants, usually if they are more prone to cavities due to tooth structure, diet, or inability to properly brush.
Fluoride makes teeth stronger and more resistant to decay. We recommend fluoride toothpaste and we apply fluoride treatments during hygiene visits. Fluoride is more effective when applied directly to the teeth, rather than ingested.
An extraction is performed to remove a tooth, whether because of disease, crowding, or damage. When extractions are required, the area around the tooth will be numbed and your dentist will remove the tooth. A small amount of bleeding is normal, as your mouth will replace the removed tooth root by forming a blood clot in the area.request an appointment
It can be difficult to determine the source of dental pain. Our dentists are skilled at diagnosing difficult to find dental pain. We use several techniques to isolate the source of the pain and then diagnose the problem and recommend a treatment plan.request an appointment
